For my very first blog post I will be doing a review of the song that almost everyone can remember from season 4 of stranger things. This song was played throughout the entire course of the season however, the most strategic and most diverse use of this song came at episode 4 which was titled "Dear Billy". The time stamp that this song makes its appearance is 1:11:03 when a character named Max is about to be killed by the Villain Vecna. This song is the lifeline back to the real world as Vecna has lured Max into another dimension. The song not only is Max's favorite song it perfectly describes her current situation. For example, some lyrics of the song that play are "... if only I could I'd make a deal with god, and I'd get him to swap our places..." this rings true because Max is trying to swap places with the real world and the dimension that she's currently in. As this song gets closer and closer to it's crescendo the action starts picking up and Max finally sees the portal to the real world giving the viewer and her hope that she could possibly make it out of this situation alive. As the song hits the peak the screen cuts to black and the music stops making the viewer believe that this episode is ending with a cliff hanger. However, this isn't the case, the episode continues showing that Max did in fact survive the encounter. As she is cradled by her friends from the nerve wracking experience the song fades back in but instead of the regular version of the song only the piano instrumental plays allowing for the decompression of the very tense situation to take place. As this fades out the screen fades to black with the silhouettes of our main characters surrounding Max living to fight another day.
